Our Methodology
The tradition.
AstroAnon works from William Lilly's Christian Astrology (1647) — the last major synthesis of the whole medieval and Renaissance tradition before the split between psychological and traditional astrology. Lilly drew on sources back to Ptolemy, Guido Bonatti, and the Arabic masters: Abu Ma'shar, Al-Biruni, and Sahl ibn Bishr, among others.
This is not a nostalgic preference. The classical tradition is the one that named its sources, stated its rules, and could therefore be tested. That accountability is what we want to inherit.
What "classical" means.
Essential dignities — domicile, exaltation, triplicity, term, and face — rather than modern rulerships. The five visible planets (Saturn through Moon) as primary significators; the Sun and Moon in their proper roles. Aspects reckoned by sign, not degree alone. Planetary hours and the day ruler as context for timing.
The outer planets — Uranus, Neptune, Pluto — are noted in the chart but do not sign off on judgments. Their testimony may be observed as a secondary layer, but the primary verdict rests with the seven classical bodies. This is a deliberate methodological position, not an oversight.
Horary.
One question, one chart, one answer. The moment the question is framed sincerely is the moment the chart is cast. The sky at that moment is read for its testimony on the matter: who are the significators, what is their condition, what do their aspects describe, and what does the Moon show about the outcome?
Horary can be wrong. A chart may not show the matter clearly, or the astrologer may misjudge the testimony. This is acknowledged in every manuscript, along with a note on what would indicate the judgment requires revision. The capacity for error is what makes it a technique rather than a performance.
Natal.
The birth chart as foundation. Annual timing by profections: each year of life turns the chart one house, making the lord of that house the year's lord. The solar return is read against the natal, not in isolation. The natal chart is read for events, tendencies, and timing — not for personality archetypes.
Where birth time is unknown, rectification or a noon chart is used and the limitation is stated explicitly. A reading with an uncertain ascendant is still a reading — it simply carries that caveat throughout.
What we don't do.
No sun-sign columns. No "energy." No "manifesting." No outer-planet-only interpretations. No psychological projection dressed as astrological reading.
If the chart is ambiguous, we say so. If the matter is not shown — if the chart does not testify on the question — we say so, and the guarantee applies. A non-answer delivered with confidence is a worse product than an honest statement of what the chart cannot show.
